I have been playing professional poker the last 5 years and now I am looking for a career in business?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 04:23 PM PDT

I have a degree in Business Administration but started playing poker for a living right out of college. Now I can play poker online for a secondary income. I am about to do a serious job hunt but I have some questions:

How do I show the 5 year gap in my resume? Will most businesses be turned off because I was a poker player? What should I do? Thanks for all your help!

How can I get my business listed as first on an internet search?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 02:21 PM PDT

I have a reputable business, but, people only can find me online by name of company only. How can I get anyone to do a search (ie. moving help, moving, labor, uhaul, etc) and find my company as the first one listed? When replying, please be specific, that would be helpful, since this is new to me….thanks!

I registered a company in Nevada two business days is there anyway to cancel it w/o having to dissolve it?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 02:19 PM PDT

I made the mistake of filing my articles of organization and submitting to be a business in Nevada online. It cost over 0.

My business doesn’t operate in Nevada, it operates in Illinois and the state requires me to file a foreign entity LLC + show proof over other things all costing me a lot. In Illinois: 0 for LLC filing and have to also order a proof of good standing from the state in which you are a domestic LLC (). So, I’m paying 0 + the fees for Nevada (0+) when I’m better off just paying for Illinois.

That being said, I called SoS in Nevada and they won’t do anything about it. I was hoping there would be a 7-10 day wait to be approved in Nevada, but I discovered that applying online for my business I was instantly approved….so they said I have to dissolve the company which is another 0.

I at least want to send a letter to someone in Nevada to say they are being unfair. I filed for my company on Friday, July 1st and today is the first business day since than and they are saying I can’t cancel the filing. *I would have done it yesterday (Monday) but it was 4th of July and they were closed!*

What steps should I take if I want to start my own restaurant?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 12:20 PM PDT

I am about to graduate from college with a degree in nutrition, but recently decided that i want to pursue a culinary career. I eventually want to own my own restaurant and be an executive chef, but know very little about business. Now obviously i am planning on eventually going to culinary school and getting extensive culinary training, but also would like to learn a little bit about how to run a business as well. My question for some of you , esp. those who have gone through culinary school, and is working in the industry, is..

Does a Food service management (hospitality mgmt) program at a culinary school still train you fairly well (as far as in the culinary arts), or is it mainly a business program? Im trying to decide between that, or taking basically an associate degree program in culinary arts and possibly taking online classes in business on top of that (because i do want to work as a chef, rather than a manager)…OR, is it not worth all the hassle, and just try co-owning a partnership business? Just wondering what you guys might suggest. Thanks!

I DON’T want to watch TV online! Why are so many companies/entrepreneurs moving their shows to the internet?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 11:21 AM PDT

First time I heard about it being significant was when a big football match was only shown online. Now, a new global X factor show is going to be shown, on the internet ONLY, and as if that weren’t annoying enough, it’s going to be PAY-PER-VIEW!

This is ridiculous. I hate watching movies on my computer. It’s much nicer to sit in the living room on the couch with a bag of crisps and a beer, flicking through channels with the remote. And besides, I don’t have to worry so much about spilling things – if I spill a drink on my computer, POOF! £1000 down the drain. If I spill things on the couch, though, I just chuck the covers into the washing machine, easily as pie.

Why are people and businesses putting more and more shows online? I don’t want to spend all day at my computer, you know. It sucks.

Real deal or scam? Please!?

Hi. Since I'm moving, I've been selling some stuff on craigslist. One guy emailed me saying he was interested in a video game set I put up for 0. When I told him that it was still available and if he wanted to purchase it, he followed up with this email:

—-Thanks for your reply. i would not be able to do this transaction with
you in person at this moment,Am currently Out of state for a Business
trip .I will like to purchase this item as a birthday gift. So,I will
be adding an extra 0.00 USD to cover the shipment cost, making
0.00 USD .Payment will be made Via my Pay Pal Account cos its the
best online payment.Get back to me with the Pay Pal ID or you send me
a Pay Pal payment request for the instant payment.Hope to hear from
you soon. Regards….

Hope to read from you soon.—-

The problem is, I'm pretty stupid when it comes to out of state orders and stuff. I don't know much about how to scam people with PayPal either. I guess I'm wondering if this guy sounds for real or if it could be a scam? I asked in my ad that I was hoping for an up and personal exchange so this just seems a bit iffy to me that he's willing to just hand me 0 without more questions… but I could be wrong… I know that getting paid before delivery is the right move and vice-verca…

Well what do you think about this? Please and Thank you.
