I have been playing professional poker the last 5 years and now I am looking for a career in business?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 04:23 PM PDT

I have a degree in Business Administration but started playing poker for a living right out of college. Now I can play poker online for a secondary income. I am about to do a serious job hunt but I have some questions:

How do I show the 5 year gap in my resume? Will most businesses be turned off because I was a poker player? What should I do? Thanks for all your help!

How can I get my business listed as first on an internet search?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 02:21 PM PDT

I have a reputable business, but, people only can find me online by name of company only. How can I get anyone to do a search (ie. moving help, moving, labor, uhaul, etc) and find my company as the first one listed? When replying, please be specific, that would be helpful, since this is new to me….thanks!

I registered a company in Nevada two business days is there anyway to cancel it w/o having to dissolve it?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 02:19 PM PDT

I made the mistake of filing my articles of organization and submitting to be a business in Nevada online. It cost over 0.

My business doesn’t operate in Nevada, it operates in Illinois and the state requires me to file a foreign entity LLC + show proof over other things all costing me a lot. In Illinois: 0 for LLC filing and have to also order a proof of good standing from the state in which you are a domestic LLC (). So, I’m paying 0 + the fees for Nevada (0+) when I’m better off just paying for Illinois.

That being said, I called SoS in Nevada and they won’t do anything about it. I was hoping there would be a 7-10 day wait to be approved in Nevada, but I discovered that applying online for my business I was instantly approved….so they said I have to dissolve the company which is another 0.

I at least want to send a letter to someone in Nevada to say they are being unfair. I filed for my company on Friday, July 1st and today is the first business day since than and they are saying I can’t cancel the filing. *I would have done it yesterday (Monday) but it was 4th of July and they were closed!*

What steps should I take if I want to start my own restaurant?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 12:20 PM PDT

I am about to graduate from college with a degree in nutrition, but recently decided that i want to pursue a culinary career. I eventually want to own my own restaurant and be an executive chef, but know very little about business. Now obviously i am planning on eventually going to culinary school and getting extensive culinary training, but also would like to learn a little bit about how to run a business as well. My question for some of you , esp. those who have gone through culinary school, and is working in the industry, is..

Does a Food service management (hospitality mgmt) program at a culinary school still train you fairly well (as far as in the culinary arts), or is it mainly a business program? Im trying to decide between that, or taking basically an associate degree program in culinary arts and possibly taking online classes in business on top of that (because i do want to work as a chef, rather than a manager)…OR, is it not worth all the hassle, and just try co-owning a partnership business? Just wondering what you guys might suggest. Thanks!

Can someone suggest good sites on which a small business can sell its products?

I DON’T want to watch TV online! Why are so many companies/entrepreneurs moving their shows to the internet?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 11:21 AM PDT

First time I heard about it being significant was when a big football match was only shown online. Now, a new global X factor show is going to be shown, on the internet ONLY, and as if that weren’t annoying enough, it’s going to be PAY-PER-VIEW!

This is ridiculous. I hate watching movies on my computer. It’s much nicer to sit in the living room on the couch with a bag of crisps and a beer, flicking through channels with the remote. And besides, I don’t have to worry so much about spilling things – if I spill a drink on my computer, POOF! £1000 down the drain. If I spill things on the couch, though, I just chuck the covers into the washing machine, easily as pie.

Why are people and businesses putting more and more shows online? I don’t want to spend all day at my computer, you know. It sucks.

Real deal or scam? Please!?

Posted: 30 Jul 2011 08:21 AM PDT

Hi. Since I'm moving, I've been selling some stuff on craigslist. One guy emailed me saying he was interested in a video game set I put up for 0. When I told him that it was still available and if he wanted to purchase it, he followed up with this email:

—-Thanks for your reply. i would not be able to do this transaction with
you in person at this moment,Am currently Out of state for a Business
trip .I will like to purchase this item as a birthday gift. So,I will
be adding an extra 0.00 USD to cover the shipment cost, making
0.00 USD .Payment will be made Via my Pay Pal Account cos its the
best online payment.Get back to me with the Pay Pal ID or you send me
a Pay Pal payment request for the instant payment.Hope to hear from
you soon. Regards….

Hope to read from you soon.—-

The problem is, I'm pretty stupid when it comes to out of state orders and stuff. I don't know much about how to scam people with PayPal either. I guess I'm wondering if this guy sounds for real or if it could be a scam? I asked in my ad that I was hoping for an up and personal exchange so this just seems a bit iffy to me that he's willing to just hand me 0 without more questions… but I could be wrong… I know that getting paid before delivery is the right move and vice-verca…

Well what do you think about this? Please and Thank you.

What kind of license do I need for an online business – State, City, County?

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 05:20 PM PDT

I need a license to buy things wholesale online and re-sell them (also online), but I’m not sure about the license I need? I’ve been reading about it, but I’m not finding any clear answers.

If anyone knows where I should go to get the license, that would be a big plus. I think I’m supposed to get a State or County license at the local Courthouse and a City license at City Hall, but I’m really not 100% sure about this.
One of the articles I read said that I could just go to my City’s Website, download and print out the application, and mail it in, instead of having to go to the Courthouse or City Hall…
It’s all pretty confusing and seems to vary. I live in AL, if that makes a difference.

Thinking about starting up an online tarot reading business?

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 04:19 PM PDT

I’ve been reading tarot for a little over a year, and I’m desiring to start up an online business offering textually-given tarot reading (as in, I read the cards for them and send them detailed readings, and pictures of their spread). However, I’m not sure how this could be done.
Does anyone have any advice they’re willing to give about how I could get this started? Or does anyone have any personal experience with tarot reading for profit that they think could be beneficial for me to know? Thank you so much!!

How to sell my online business?

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 02:20 PM PDT

Hi, I developed an online business, which launched 18 months ago. The business earned raffly 50,000 bucks over that time. At first place I paid for online marketing like AdWords, but I stopped that. Still, the online service is getting new clients, who pay for a 6 months period of service. The majority of the clients is happy to prolong their membership. The operation costs reduce to the server hosting only which is ca 0 monthly. Now my question: I would like to sell the entire business including all source code and client contracts to a new owner. But I have no idea, what the reasonable purchase price could be and how to find a responsible and serious new owner for the business. Can you help?

Regards, Uwe
The ,000 income is the gross turn over from day one to date. All costs are excluded. I spent a lot of money and time in actually developing, launching and advertising this project. The growth of the business heavily depends on the ability to attract more paying customers by smart advertising. The business deals directly with ebay auctions. So, any ebay user is a potential client of this service. After all investments that I made, the new owner will find a clean system, which he needs to grow as a marketing / sales person. Despite that, the buyer receives a stock of ca 1,000 customers who will make future payments all 6 months. My reason for the sale is the fact that I need to change my personal and business life. Hence I need a larger amount of money today, even if I can’t earn the fruits of my work in the future, which is only natural. It has nothing to do with my expectations in this particular business. I’d rather predict a nice future for it.
I was already thinking about selling to competitors, however I’m stuck with the purchase price I could suggest. I think, there are two components with the estimate – one is the stock of existing clients where some paid already (4 periods a in advance). This client base should have a specific value within the purchase price, I believe. The second component should be a revenue estimate that some skilled personcould achieve, when managing a working system. If I sold to a competitor, the system itself would have less value to him, since he already owns a system that looks exactly like this. So, I’m not sure, if the best value can be achieved with a person who can make money based on a flying project – by actually going out and getting more clients.

What are the best resources for learning basic, general sales techniques and skills?

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 12:19 PM PDT

I work with a lot of sales reps, I want to understand their world more. Plus, no matter what division of business one works, learning how to sell can only help.

I’m looking for a book or (preferrably) a free online resource, how-to website on how to sell, what makes people buy, etc.

I once heard that of these three things: trust, knowledge and like-ability, that like-ability is the trait most likely to generate a sale. I’m looking for general info like that.

I’ve never had a sales job but would like to learn more.

Thank you and have a great day!

Which website idea is better?

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 11:21 AM PDT

Hello. I would like to make six figures a year. I have two website ideas.

1. A website where users can sign up and list, buy, sell, and auction their websites and domain names. Website flipping is a huge business, and many people want an already made and established website. People with established websites sometimes like to sell their site and make cash. It is a marketplace for websites. I would make money by charging a small commission to the seller and by having ads on the website.

Pros- cool idea, they have already made scripts for
Cons- competing with flippa and site point and websitebroker which are already established.

2. Consultants is a huge business, however, people with online businesses and websites also need help with how they should run their company. This would be a website based around a unique points system. The person who needs help with their website would buy 10 tokens for a small fee per token in order to post a question about their site. They could then post a snapshot along with the URL and questions they have about marketing, revenue, etc. Other users could then answer the questions and give feedback. Once the post closes, the ten points are distributed as follows. If there are more than 5 people who answered, only the top 5 chosen by the question poster gets 1 point each. If there are more than two but less than five, top two get two points. If there is only one poster and he has a good answer, he gets five points. The remaining five or six points are mine. If no one posts on your question within a month, you get your refund or can use points again later. You can also trade in points for cash and for prizes with people with many points. At first when the site is in beta, if there is a automatic posting thing used by scammers, users can flag them and I would manually delete the accounts. After beta, we would install a spam free security system that detects and prevents spam. I would make money by selling points and ads on the site.

Pros- great new idea, money from different sources
Cons- startup costs are huge since I would have to hire a web design firm.

3. Sell wholesale products from doba on ebay.

People have been telling me in order to get rich, you have to start a business. So those are my business ideas. However, this year, I am being promoted to partner at my management consulting firm and will be making seven figures each year as partner. I would then go onto a fortune 500 media company like viacom, time Warner, or news corp, apply for a senior management/executive position and make multi millions each year. Is it worth even starting a business. Maybe with my millions, I could afford to start number 2 if you think it is a good idea? However, I don’t need a business to make me rich. I’ve already become rich living off of my six figure salary from my firm and soon to be million dollar salary.

I was wondering if anyone did online home business work that does not involve surveys or trial offers ?

Can Bank of America dont tell the reason why they closed my account?

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 04:20 PM PDT

I have had a bank account with Bank of America for over a year now. I had no problems with them before. Today I was in the store trying to buy some Christmas gifts, and my card was declined. Then I got back at home and I tried to log into online banking to check what is going on. Online banking showed me that there is no such account. So I called to customer service, they said that the account is about to be closed. Then I asked for a reason, they did not say so due to the fact that company regulations give them the “right” to withhold such key information. I asked about the funds if I can withdraw them tomorrow, I was told it will be mailed in a form of check (some day). I asked for names of representatives, they hide their names as well for “security purposes”. Like a month ago they also closed one of my business account, and they held my money for more than 2 months. So my question is if bank can hide their names, and refuse to tell me the reason. Also, what are my rights at this point?

CONSUMER ALERT – BEWARE: Calls from “Job Line”?

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 02:21 PM PDT

Beware!!!! This is actually /Minute Scam

Consumers report receiving automated message calls from a service calling itself “The Jobline” where you’re told they have jobs for you. It’s just a scam. If you call the number back, you will get charged per minute, according to messages left in online forums where people share information on telemarketing numbers. They seem to be using the number 976-4477 in different area codes. A scam targeting people already hard up for work and money, that’s pretty high on the Richter scale of sleaziness.

You should contact the Attorney General in your particular State, the Better Business Bureau and other government agencies about this scam.

Please watch your caller IDs so as NOT to get caught up in this mess.

By all means, please tell me what you think about this matter.
PLEASE pass this along to another deserving person. Thanks.

I Honestley Dont mean To offend Anyone Who is Muslim ((MJ FANS)) JUST TO CLEAR UP RUMORS.?

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 10:21 AM PDT

ok, i am christian…
i try my best not to judge people themselves.
but the choices they make, how they make mistakes, learn from it, and better themselves.
truly- its none of my business uneles they are “in my life”

well i didn’t believe the stuff about Michael converting to islam
but i was on michael jackson.com and i saw some fan stuff about Muslim things and Allah…
so i was trying to make sure what i knew was true.

so i looked online for articles about it.
and i have come to the conclusion that NO, Michael did not.
the site i looked at said they got there sources and the sources also started from THE SUN, and of course us Michael Jackson fans know how much of liars they are, example….
remember when they came out with that FAKE AUTOPSY report?
talkin about Michaels head was STILL severely burned and he had BROKEN RIBS???
WTF?
BROKEN RIBS??
mannnn, when i first saw that I CRIED.
i knew it was fake as hell, but i still cried cus well, it was pretty close to june 25th when that info was “fakely released”
so i just cried because of the word “autopsy” and “Michael” in the same sentence.

but yeah back to the whole point of posting this.
the sun’s “PROOF” of Michael converting to islam was the fact that Jermaine said in a press confrence “May Allah be with you, Michael, always”

well, HELLO??? HE IS JERMAINE!!!!!!!
he is gonna say “Allah”
because that is Jermains “God”
because Muslim is the religion he practices now.
just because Jermaine said that doesn’t mean thats what Michael believed.

I believe Michael was a type of Christian called “Jehovah’s Witness”
Jermaine NEVER SAID Michael was gonna change is name
Jermaine NEVER SAID Michael converted to islam.
Michael NEVER SAID any of that either.
lies lies lies lies.

this is the part where i don’t mean to offend anyone.

we all have our religions, we all need to respect one anothers beliefs.
but i was kinda in relive that he didn’t because of religionsons beliefs..
i also wanted to just clear this up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxBCzPgodVc&feature=player_embedded#

F.Y.I if you reallu wanna go THERE?
i think michael was an “above average” male.

TWYMMF3GoldPants

i was talkin to the person that said michael had a small “pen-is”
SONIA??
THAT SONG IS RUMORED TO BE SUNG BY MICHAEL BUT ITS ONLY CUS “Zain Bhikha” SOUNDS JUST LIKE MICHAEL.

Need advise on obtaining bachelors in accounting thru online courses.?

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 08:22 AM PDT

I obtained an associates degree from a business school 25 years ago. I’ve been working 25 years as an accountant and am successful and make good money. I’m at a standstill though because I never received a bachelors in accounting. I’d like to obtain credits toward a bachelors by taking online courses. Will my credits from years ago be transferable? What about my job experience…will that get me some credits? How do I go about getting a degree from a college that will give me a “real” bachelors degree? I would only be interested in online courses due to my busy work schedule. Are these online degrees legit? Any info would be helpful!

I will be going to community college for the next two years for business administration. My community college also has a night school for adult learners where you can earn a Bachelor’s degree. The baccaulaureate program can consist of online and night courses.

I have been told by my advisor that I can attend the community college for three semesters and then begin attending the baccaulaureate program for one semester.

Then I could go into the Air National Guard and take online classes with the same school.

I have been told that if I would join the reserves, I would have more time to complete my degree

My question is, would the integrity of my college degree be coompromised because many of the courses would have been taken online?

I am not the best student so that’s why i am considering all of this

How to advertise and promote a service business?

Posted: 26 Jul 2011 11:20 AM PDT

I am starting a small errand business and am looking for ways to promote it. So far I am doing fliers in local businesses such as senior centers and daycares, as well as grocery stores, libraries, and on town bulletin boards. I am advertsing online with craigslist. I have also created a website and put the address on all the fliers.

I was thinking of putting fliers under peoples doors or on windsheilds at the local stores and mall but I have heard those have a low success rate because most people just throw them out.

I was thinking of also just walking up to people in the grocery store and telling them about my business but I dont know if that would be rude.

Any other ideas on how to get people to use my errand business? I just moved to a new area so I can’t really count on word of mouth because I don’t have any family or friends in the area.

online business protection?

Posted: 26 Jul 2011 08:22 AM PDT

Hey guys:

I have a very good online business idea, its something like Google or yahoo answers and etc.

I did some research, the result I got is there are no such websites like what I have in my mind

My question is, how do I protect my idea? I am going to start to build this website, but it would be small and not well known by people(it needs time to grow bigger)

What I’m concerned about is, during the growing process, some internet or online business giants or other people would steal my idea, and then try to use it on their websites, then it would be very hard for my website to grow bigger.

So, what do I need to do to protect my website and my ideas, therefore even they know my web they couldn’t do the something.
are there any advices? if there are not such protection, then what can I do?

Thanks in advance

Is an online MBA degree from Northeastern University worth pursuing?

Posted: 25 Jul 2011 04:28 PM PDT

I am planning on attending law school but I have always considered earning an MBA also. I now work for a company that will pay 90% of tuition if it is business related. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about Northeastern’s online MBA degree. What is the cost? How good is the program? Is it one of the best online MBA degrees out there or are there others more recommended? Thank you!
I am looking for information from students who have attended the university for the MBA program. Thank you.

Is a website that lets people list their unwanted gift cards for sale a good idea?

Posted: 25 Jul 2011 02:28 PM PDT

I want to know if this idea could make me a lot of money. To make money on the site, I would charge the seller a small fee once the card was sold on the site. I would also put advertisements up on the site and a subscriber newsletter that could promote affiliate products. If you don’t think this online marketplace for gift cards idea is any good, please tell me how to make A LOT of money online and some of the best online business ideas to try out that could be profitable.

Is there any real aircraft detailing certification or schooling if you want to start a business?

Posted: 25 Jul 2011 12:23 PM PDT

I’m thinking about starting a business and I already know how to detail airplanes, but I would like to get myself more education on finer things and maybe certification for detailing airplanes to make myself more marketable. Does anyone know if there are any legit courses for this or are most of the sites online just plain ole detailing shops offering schooling/advice/certification? Maybe college approved certification?

What do you think of this?

This is what someone online told me:
You like most democrats, simply just do not understand that there is a difference between a preacher with a bible in his hand, or a charity worker with a basket in his hand, coming up to my door and asking me “Will you give?” and an government agent with a gun and a badge in his hand walking up to my door and saying “You WILL give.”

Conservatives give more to charity, there have been numerous studies out that support this:
(there were websites here)

Because I decided to educate myself and I followed the link what it basically said was that it compared to street charity earnings from a rural Republican district to a metropolitan Democrat district and the GOP district gave more thus proving that Repubs care more about the country and about individual citizens than Dems.
There was two basic flaws with this survey and if I didn’t live in a city and was not a Christian I wouldn’t have been savvy to them.
1- When you are in a city the person you are giving to is less likely to be using it for drugs or shady business and it’s a city and you can’t avoid that fact and that’s why most choose not to donate to people out on the street. If it were a Republican dominated metropolitan area I’m sure the response would have been similar
2- As a Christian, I often feel obligated to give to others because that’s the right thing to do and that’s what God wants me to do. However, there is a strong possibility that people could feel guilty and straddled about not giving because of their beliefs
Until those two issues are addressed formally, I do not take this experiment as fact. Your thoughts…

Any tips for selling things online?

Posted: 25 Jul 2011 10:20 AM PDT

I am 15 and would like to sell some unwanted books, clothes, CDs, jewellery, etc. online to make a bit of extra pocket money. Does anyone have any tips (the best websites, for example) for a non-business seller?

Real deal or scam? Please!?
